Andrew Jackson Reynolds, age 76, of Pierceton, IN passed away Friday September 16, 2011 at 8:45 pm in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Northern Indiana Health Care System Marion, IN. He was born to Earnest and Catherine (Shepherd) Reynolds on November 12. 1934 in Floyd County, KY.
On January 2, 1958 he was united in marriage to Ora Thompson. He was a longtime resident of Kosciusko County , IN.
Andrew faithfully served his country from 1956 to 1980 in the United States Army. In his 20 years of service he was stationed in Germany, France, Korea, Alaska and his last duty station was in Fort Gordon, GA and retired as a First Sargent (Instructor) in the Signal Corps. Also, he served as a recruiter in Warsaw and Fort Wayne, IN. He was chosen as an enlisted man to help instrument the new Volunteer Army.
He loved to attend Gospel Concerts, hunting raccoons, raising hunting dogs, carpentry, spending time with his family and spending time on his farm.
Andrew is survived by his loving family including his wife Ora Reynolds of Pierceton; daughters Jacqueline M. ( spouse Christopher) Sparkie, Kathy L. Reynolds; son Drent B. Reynolds all of Pierceton, IN. In addition, he is survived by granddaughters Jenifer, Jessica, Arielle, Ella Rose and grandson Stephen. Furthermore, a niece Carol Smith, nephew Charles (spouse Jan) Creekmore survive all of Pierceton, IN.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday September 21, 2011 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel Pierceton, IN., Calling hours are Tuesday September 20, 2011 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm in the Pierceton Funeral Chapel. Pastor Ward E. Allen will officiate the services. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery Pierceton. Military honors will be rendered by the Pierceton American Legion and the Indiana Army Reserve National Guard.
