Sheila K. Burner, 78, of Warsaw passed away on December 22, 2018 at 5:02 pm in her residence. On January 15, 1940 she was born in Marion, Indiana to Richard and Vera (Bragg) LaGarde. On May 6, 1961 in Warsaw she was united in marriage to Judge Charles Robert “Bob” Burner who preceded her.

A resident of Kosciusko County for the last 68 years, she graduated from Warsaw High School in 1958 and then attended Ball State University. She served as the Wayne Township Trustee from 2006 until her death. Before serving as Trustee she worked for Star Temporary Service as a manager. She was inducted into the Kosciusko Republican Hall of Fame in 2014 for her service to the Kosciusko County Republican Party. Sheila was a member of Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church, CASA of Kosciusko County, Beaman Home, Warsaw/Wayne Township Fire Territory Board and Multi-Township EMS Board and Ladies of the Shrine.

Sheila is survived by her children; Kurt Burner of Warsaw, Kevin (Becky) Burner of Champaign, Illinois, Kristi (Todd) Medert of Fort Wayne, Kathy Burner of Fort Wayne and Karin Burner of Warsaw. She is further survived by her grandchildren; Erich Burner and Joel Burner of Warsaw, Kayla Burner Wood of Pierceton, Alissa Burner and Courtney Burner of Champaign, IL., Justin (Casey) Medert of Indianapolis, Sabrina Medert and Jared Medert of Fort Wayne and Anna Juarez and Andrew Juarez of Fort Wayne. She was preceded by her husband, her parents a brother Jim LaGarde and a son-in-law Todd Medert.

Her visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 am. The Reverend Cannon Richard Kallenberg will officiate. Innichement will follow in St. Anne’s Columbarium. McHatton –Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
