Obituary for Beverly M. “Peg” Smith

Beverly M. “Peg” Smith, 96, formerly of Leesburg, died March 21, 2016, in Grace Village Healthcare.
She was born July 14, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Horace L. and Edna Brownell. On April 9, 1944, in Brooklyn, she married Clifford K. Smith, who was stationed in New York as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. They moved to Leesburg in 1945.
She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School and C.F. Young Secretarial School for Girls, both in Brooklyn.
She retired from Lake City Bank in 1982, and prior to that she worked as secretary to the principal at Leesburg School. She also had secretarial positions at Leesburg Lumber Co. and the Warsaw District of the Methodist Church. She was a long-time member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith L. (and spouse Doug) Smith, Leesburg; two sons, Bruce G. (and spouse Karin) Smith, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Paul K. (and Gina) Smith, Leesburg; four grandchildren: Sara L. Dye, Brian D. Smith, Adrienne M. Smalley and Alex J. Smith; three great-grandchildren: Chloe and Logan Smith and Jacob Dye. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Richard G. Brownell.
Respecting her wishes, there will be no calling or services. Burial will be at a later date.
The Anatomical Education Program of the Indiana School of Medicine and McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
