Albert D. “Ab” Shively, 92 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 3:18 pm on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
On July 17, 1920, he was born in Burket, Indiana to Ernest R. and Hazel L. (Ellis) Shively. He married Phyllis J. Longenecker on March 6, 1947 in Warsaw. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2001.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Albert graduated from Claypool High School in 1938. He worked as a machinist for Zimmer Manufacturing. He also worked at Power King and Millington Bros. He also founded Ab's Radiator Shop which is now Ab and Tom's Radiator Shop.
Albert attended First United Methodist Church, Warsaw. He played semi pro basketball and baseball. He loved sports, especially watching the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame Football and Indiana University Basketball. He enjoyed meeting his friends at Hardee's Restaurant every morning for coffee.
Albert is survived by his daughter, Jean Anne Shively, Warsaw; his son, Jeff (and spouse Janet) Shively, Fort Wayne; three sisters, Pauline Lowry, Warsaw, Irene Davis, Warsaw and Jeanette (and spouse Bill) Sadler, Warsaw; one brother, Don (and spouse Frances) Shively, Claypool; three granddaughters, Heather Shively, Woodstock, Georgia, Lindsay Rehberg, Canton, Georgia and Megan Shively, Fort Wayne; one grandson, Jason Shively, Fort Wayne; two great granddaughters, Taylor Rehberg and Emma Loeding; three great grandsons, Nathan Shively, Landon Rehberg and Hudson Shively and another great grandchild due in April.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merle Shively.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, December 3, 2012 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Pastor Scott Carmer will officiate the service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Visitation hours will be from 1:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the funeral chapel.
