His entire life Carl struggled from the effect of polio, then as he neared age 40, post-polio syndrome and MS became the biggest burden to deal with, but he never complained.  A person who seldom spoke, he loved to be around people and hear what everyone had to say.  Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church- Pierceton.

Carl is survived by his sister, Linda Schafer, of Pierceton; his nephew Neil Schafer, of Pierceton, four great nieces who were the bright shining stars in his life, Moriah, Angel (Jorge), Shaylee, and Kayden Schafer of North Manchester; and two new little stars, great-great niece Adelina and great-great nephew Arlo Robles of North Manchester.  Also surviving are Aunts Becky Stavedahl, of Warsaw, and Phyllis Bowser, of Mentone and many cousins.
