Obituary for David P. Michael (UPDATED)

David P. Michael (UPDATED)

David P. Michael, 63, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 7:15 pm Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in his home. David was born in Warsaw on August 2, 1955 to Earl and Clara Mae (Hankins) Michael.

David graduated from Warsaw High School in 1973.  In 1977, he graduated from Indiana State University with a major in History and a minor in teaching.  He worked as a teacher for a brief period of time, then worked in hotel management in Nebraska, Illinois, and Indianapolis for Dillon Inn, which later became Hampton Inn.  He finished his career as a Senior Community Manager for Community Association Services of Indiana (CASI), Carmel, Indiana.

David was a huge Indy Car and NASCAR fan, with Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver.  He enjoyed watching Chicago Cubs baseball, Chicago Bears football, baking, reading, and working jigsaw puzzles.  His ‘goodies’ will be missed by many! Being an only child, his extended family was very important to him, and he worked hard, even during his illness, to keep the tradition of a summer family reunion alive.  He was a member of the First Christian Church, Warsaw.

David is survived by his step-mother, Mary Michael, Carmel, Indiana; Aunts, Edna Snyder, Marion, IN and Isabel Hankins, Warsaw, IN; and numerous first, second, third and fourth cousins.  David was preceded in death by his parents; Aunt/Uncle Elva (Kenneth) Evans, Uncle Willard (Bill) Hankins, Uncle/Aunt Norman (Martha) Hankins; Uncle Ted Snyder; and cousin Susan Hankins.

In accordance with David’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care of our loved one.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 115 Park Ridge Drive, Warsaw, IN 46580.
