On May 14, 2021 Dr. James J Bohlin died at home in Claypool after a brief illness. He was 86 years old. Jim was born on March 10,1935 in Michigan City, Indiana to James D Bohlin and Mildred Eileen (Jensen) Bohlin.  Jim graduated from Indiana University earning his DDS. He had a successful practice on Husky Trail moving from East Winona Avenue after several years. He served in the United States Air Force and with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Jim was honored as a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security in 2003 and the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2016 while serving in the Coast Guard Auxilliary.  Jim enjoyed fishing, volunteering at the North Webster and Warsaw American Legion posts, spending time at the North Webster Senior Center. Jim leaves behind  his children, James S. (Megan) of Fairborn, Ohio, Dr. Michael D. (Lisa) Bohlin of West Lafayette,  Catherine Germain of Union Mills, and Jeffrey T (Katrina) Bohlin of LaPorte; Son-in-law Mark Brumblow of Claypool; grandchildren Jay and Jon Bohlin of Tuscan, Arizona, Alyssa Bohlin of Fairborn, Ohio, Benjamin and Holly Bohlin of West Lafayette, Samantha Bohlin of Bloomington, Christopher (Katie) Bohlin of LaPorte, Cheyenne Germain of LaPorte, Jeffrey M Bohlin of LaPorte, Jesse Bohlin of Tacoma, Washington, and  Austin Bohlin of West Lafayette, Elizabeth and Marcus Brumblow (Nicole Schooley) of Claypool, Devan Morton of South Whitley;  4 great-grandchildren; siblings Dr. Charles (Charlotte) Bohlin of Pender, Nebraska and Linda N Smith of Palatine, Illinois; as well as nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Jim is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, Warsaw with the Reverend Dr. Michael Chester, BCC officiating. A graveside burial ceremony will follow immediately at Oakwood Cemetery with military honors rendered by American Legion Post #49 and North Webster American Legion Post 253. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or American Legion of the donor’s choice. American Legion Post # 49- 301 N. Buffalo St, Warsaw, IN 46580 American Legion Post 253 - 756 S Main St, North Webster, IN 46555 Masks are optional, and social distancing is encouraged.  No food is permitted at this time.
