Edward Carten, age 80 of Warsaw, Indiana died on July 31, 2012 at 12:35 pm at home. He was born October 2, 1931 in Midlothian, Illinois to Thomas Francis and Lillie May (Dickeuse) Carten. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Kittywake. On September 13, 1958 he married
Frances Swanson in Midlothian, Illinois.
He was an employee of Sears & Roebuck and retired in 1993 after 40 years. Edward and Fran moved to Warsaw, Indiana in 1999. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Southshore Country Club. He enjoyed traveling and the outdoors. He was a member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster, Indiana and St Martin De Porres Parish, Syracuse, Indiana.
Edward is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Carten, son Daniel (and spouse Lyn) Carten, daughter Cathy (and spouse Ted) Kramer, six grandchildren, Scott Kramer, Tiffany and Jenna Miller, Danielle, Kendall and Cassidy Carten and two great grandchildren, Damian and Mia.
He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Martin De Porres Parish, Syracuse, Indiana on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Also at the church after the Funeral Mass there will be Military Honors by the American Legion Post 253, North Webster. Father Richard Hire will officiate the services.
Visitation will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana on Friday, August 3, 2012 form 10:00 am to 1:00pm.
Burial will be at a later date.
