John Brookins

John Brookins, age 82, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away Thursday February 7, 2013 at 5:02 PM in Grace Village Health Care Winona Lake, IN. He was born June 6, 1930 in North Manchester, IN to Orbie W. and Bertha Mae (Bonewitz) Brookins.

He was a Warsaw, IN resident since 1965. On November 21, 1981 he was united in marriage to Shirley Hatfield who preceded him in death in November 2001. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a gunner with the Anti-Aircraft Artillery. He was formerly employed by Ditto’s Supermarket and Kroger Supermarket, both of Warsaw, as a Meat Cutter. He was a member of the Warsaw Moose Lodge and the American Legion Eel River Post #286 of North Manchester, IN.

Survivors include three daughters, Joni Brookins Warsaw, In; Brenda (spouse Dane) Weaver Warsaw, In; Ellen (spouse Steve) Stayer Warsaw, In. Two sons, Randy (spouse Sandy) Hatfield Warsaw, In; Rod (spouse Vicki) Hatfield Olathe, KS. One Sister, Lois Palmer Cincinnati, Oh. He is also survived by grandchildren Greg Weaver, Brittany (Travis) Hartman, Eric (Kristin) Stayer, Tara (Justin) Kundert, Jeannie Hatfield, Stephanie Hatfield, Monica Hatfield and Nathan Hatfield, Rachell (spouse Drew) Cooper, Curtis Hatfield, Ralph (spouse Dana) Hatfield, Alyssa Hatfield and Quinn Hatfield. and 9 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mary Helen Price, Ruth Anne Hileman, one brother, Donald Brookins and a grandson Anthony Hatfield, preceded him in death.

Services will be Monday Febuary 11th, 2013 at McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel Warsaw, In at 2:00PM with Pastor Steven Ailes Officiating. Calling will be Sunday Febuary 10th, 2013 from 1-4PM at McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel Warsaw, In. Interment will be in Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, In.
