Verlin Stayer

Verlin Stayer, age 84, of Warsaw, IN passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 6:05 PM in his residence. He was born August 22, 1930 in Sidney, IN to Ernest and Lovell (Druley) Stayer.

He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. He faithfully served his Country in the United Sates Navy during the Korean Conflict. On February 26, 1978 in Warsaw he was united in marriage to Janice Sievers. The Carpenter’s Union, South Bend, IN, Da-Lite Screen, Explorer Van, Coachman, Inc. and Schrader’s Automotive formerly employed him. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Warsaw, Pierceton American Legion Post #258, Warsaw Masonic Lodge #73, and Gilliam Bowling Lanes Leagues where he also coached Junior Bowling.

Survivors include his wife Janice Stayer of Warsaw, IN; daughters Linda (spouse Jerry) Bentele of Leesburg, IN, Cheryl (spouse Greg) Gearhart of Fulton, IN, Monda (spouse Mark) Pherigo of Pierceton, IN; brothers Gerald (spouse Phyllis) Stayer of North Manchester, IN, Frank (spouse Imogene) Stayer of Kimmel, IN and Everett 9spouse Dorothy) Stayer of Huntington. In addition, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren survive him. 2 sister and 2 brothers preceded him.

Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Funeral Chapel. Pastors Bob and Becky Conelley will officiate the services. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, IN with Military Honors rendered by the Pierceton American Legion Post #258.
